Guided by Passion
Jason McReynods
My name is Jason McReynods. I was born and raised in East Tennessee and have never left—this region, and its world-class waters, have shaped my life. My passion has always been chasing trophy fish, and Flying SoHo is a reflection of that dedication: we focus exclusively on fishing big streamers in pursuit of once-in-a-lifetime catches.
Every trip on the water our mission is to change lives with a fly rod. It only takes one bite to create a moment you'll never forget. My mission is to put our guests on the biggest fish of their lives while sharing the intense, rewarding grind of streamer fishing on rivers like the South Holston and Watauga. We keep our heads down and fish hard all day—but when it happens, it’s pure magic. Record catches of Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout, Striped Bass, or Smallmouth Bass can happen any trip.
I live here with my wife, Christy, and have spent decades exploring every stretch of our local rivers. Before becoming a full-time guide, I completed an Orvis-endorsed guide school and now serve on the board of the Blue Ridge Guide Association. I'm deeply committed to this profession and to preserving these waters for future generations.

Built for the Hunt
Our boats
Jet boats are essential tools in our pursuit of trophy fish, giving us access to remote, untouched stretches of river. We rotate between two boats depending on river flows and conditions, making sure we always have the right setup for the day. This mobility allows us to reach waters with minimal fishing pressure and follow fish throughout their seasonal migrations—keeping us in the action year-round.
Tracker grizzly 1860
We use the larger Grizzly jet boat when river flows are higher or when we’re fishing the impoundment sections—especially during winter Striped Bass season. This boat is equipped with a Minn Kota Ultrex, giving us the ability to hold position in strong current or chase down bait-chasing schools during feeding frenzies. The Grizzly gives us the power and stability needed to keep the trophy hunt going when our smaller jet boat isn’t up to the task.
Monarch 1648
We use this 1648 jet boat when river flows are normal or below average. It’s ideal for 1–2 anglers and is perfect for navigating shallow stretches during low summer flows. Equipped with mounted lights, it's also set up for night fishing, giving us full flexibility on the water. This boat is stripped down with no electronics—just us, reading the river and targeting prime spots as we float through each section.
